Upon invasion, Plasmodium falciparum exports hundreds of proteins across its surrounding parasitophorous vacuole membrane (PVM) to remodel the infected erythrocyte. Although this phenomenon is crucial for the parasite growth and virulence, elucidation of precise steps in the export pathway is still required.
